Due to Covid-19, a large majority of PhD and postdoctoral fellows are behind schedule. Eighty-four percent of those who responded to a survey by the Association of Doctoral Organizations in Norway (SIN) say they have been delayed. One third are delayed by more than two months, and 87 percent say they will need more time to meet the agreed deadline. Many of them are unsure whether their contracts can be extended. The total cost of one-and-a-half month’s extension for all Norwegian universities would amount to one billion kroner.
