Mari Sundli Tveit, incoming head of the Research Council of Norway, calls for moren free and independent research. ‘Research and innovation have never been as important to society as now. I want to take part in driving this social development and developing an organization that plays such a key role.’ Underlining the importance of curiosity-driven and ground-breaking research, she adds that ‘we may have to be willing to take greater risks.’ Tveit, who currently is policy director for the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO), will enter into her new position on 1 March 2021.
