Several studies show that the pandemic has hit young researchers hard. Many had hopes of receiving help towards delayed research fellow positions in the revised national budget. However, those hopes were dashed. Guro Elisabeth Lind, head of the Norwegian Association of Researchers, says, ‘The government has missed a golden opportunity, which is a great disappointment to us.’ A group of young researchers are now asking the Norwegian parliament for help. In an appeal which has received over 1000 signatures, they are requesting a crisis package specifically targeted at research fellows and post-docs.
