In 2019, UiT was the worst offender among Norwegian universities regarding temporary employment. Every fifth employee was a temp. But over the past year the university has systematically reviewed 637 temp appointments and converted 141 of these to permanent positions. According to UiT, two of the various initiatives haven been particularly decisive: firstly, temps are to be hired permanently after more than two years of employment. Secondly, temp positions pending qualifying pedagogic training have been converted to permanent status. No other university can boast of similar results in 2020.
