Four major Norwegian institutes in the fields of energy, environment and climate are considering broader collaboration or a joint organization. ‘But we don’t want a merger’, says incoming head of the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA), Tor-Petter Johnsen. ‘We will consider various forms of collaboration, and one of them is a joint research group.’ The three remaining institutes are the Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU), the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE), and the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI).
